Nombulelo Ntulini

Nombulelo Ntulini, Office Administrator

Despite having graduated with a BTech Diploma, Nombulelo found herself unable to obtain a job, as she had no work experience. Coming from a poor family, but being more educated than some of her family members, meant she had a high expectation for herself to contribute meaningfully to her family’s wellbeing. She therefore took the first position that she could with Orca Industries, a diving and climbing outlet. She was asked to handle various administrative tasks, but before long, Nombulelo realized that the work was simply not challenging enough.  She decided that her next step would have to be one that would give her scope to stretch herself further and put more of her learned skills to good use.

I said my prayers and along came DreamWorker! Having studied Public Management in my course, I really, really wanted to work in a government department, an NGO or a CBO. I love the fact that I am working in an organization that is committed to changing peoples’ lives by helping them to find employment. This job will not only stretch me to capacity and give me great work experience, but it also gives me the opportunity of rendering a much needed service in my community each and every day. And yes, I can help my family and stand proud of the work I am doing!

Busi Polisa

Busi Polisa, Office Administrator

Busi completed her matric in 2003 and then went on to develop her Secretarial and Admin skills at Northlink College. After a year, she went to Sinethemba Recruitment to undertake a 3 month in house training period as a receptionist. Here she gained practical experience in a range of administration skills as well as a range of people skills. Every day, she was made more and more aware of how many people in the Somerset West community were suffering daily, unemployed and facing a bleak future if they did not find work soon.

Busi left Sinethemba and worked for a while as a receptionist at Chanti Travel. She was subsequently promoted to the role Junior Travel consultant, but faced retrenchment a short while later.

For me, being part of DreamWorker is very exciting. I come from a community where there is a lot of unemployment. I am really keen to put all my secretarial, administrative and people skills to really good use, for the upliftment of my Helderberg community.

Johanita Schoeman

Johanita Schoeman, Project Manager

Johanita Schoeman first heard about DreamWorker at a Business Network meeting and was immediately inspired by the project. So when the organisation was looking for a suitable Project Manager for Somerset West, she jumped at the opportunity to get involved.

Juanita’s background covers many areas of business and she brings a wide variety of skills with her. She is currently still involved with the Mugg and Bean Stellenbosch Square, which she co-owns. She also runs JS2 Consulting, assisting various clients with marketing and related issues.

Johanita has a passion for people and loves being a “connector” – helping people to fulfil their needs, connecting people with mutual interests. As she puts it:

I am so excited by the idea of helping the unemployed with job opportunities, helping people to grow with pride, increase their self worth and take a step towards manifesting their dreams. I am also excited by the idea of helping the Helderberg business community find suitable employees. And of course, the social entrepreneur in me would love to see hundreds of Link of Love vouchers being sold in Somerset West and Strand, so that we can set up a project in the Helderberg district to offer jobs in the community for our unemployed!
